| | Trewince House in 1932 | In this photograph you can just about see the wooden walkways over the raked granite which represents the ocean (foreground). The house is shown with its original porch and gable decoration.
The Japanese garden is currently being restored and many of the original features are starting to reappear:
The restoration is well underway

| | The garden today | | The Japanese garden is very much a 'work in progress' but there is much more to enjoy in the grounds of Trewince. Steps and winding paths lead down to the lower terraces which offer complete seclusion, with grassed and paved areas, mature shrubs, plenty of colour, sunshine and shade. Beyond that, a wrought iron gate opens onto Trewince Lane or you can follow a path back up to the house through the 'wild' part of the garden. At the end of the lane behind the house there is a bridleway over open countryside. | Back to top | | | |
